Remediation and Risk Assessment

Transforming post-industrial and contaminated properties into usable sites is an important component of community revitalization. Site remediation can restore contaminated properties for beneficial and productive uses, often while repurposing existing infrastructure.

Downstream Strategies offers specialized remediation services to help communities prepare sites for redevelopment.

Our experienced technical staff provide important cleanup and assessment services to help remove pollutant sources and create sites suitable for development. We have a seasoned West Virginia Licensed Remediation Specialist (LRS) on staff that is experienced with regulatory programs throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

We have extensive experience securing federal Brownfields Assessment and Cleanup Grants. We also work with communities to redevelop brownfields into productive properties.

We provide services supporting clients engaged in West Virginia’s Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP). The VRP provides a flexible regulatory framework designed to encourage companies, communities, and other stakeholders to proactively clean up sites impacted by historical pollution. Benefits of the program include flexible cleanup standards, based on site-specific conditions and future land uses, and liability protections for entities conducting the cleanup.

  • Environmental due diligence (Phase I/II)
